JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. -

The manager of a Johnson City cancer clinic was sentenced to three years probation and ordered to pay $4,000 in fines.

Michael Dean Combs was in federal court Monday on charges of receiving unapproved drugs. According to his plea agreement, Combs was the business manager for McLeod Cancer and Blood Center, which provided care and treatment for patients with cancer and blood diseases.

The plea agreement says the center bought large amounts of prescription drugs to be administered through the clinic from a Canadian business which got the drugs from foreign sources and were not approved by the FDA to be used or distributed.

A physician at the clinic pleaded guilty to using the unapproved drugs in December.
