DICKENSON COUNTY, Va. -

CSX officials release a statement concerning clean-up process in Haysi, Virginia.

"CSXT continues to work deliberately and thoroughly to clean up from the March 23 derailment in Haysi, Virginia.  A key focus of the work was ensuring that the water and propionic acid in the area was contained and collected.  That work should be completed in about a week.  At that point, the nitrogen fertilizer in five cars will be transferred.  The cars then will be cut up on site.  At this point, we expect all of the work will be completed by early June.  We appreciate the cooperation of the community as this work proceeds.  The primary interest is to ensure the safety of the community and protect the environment."
