Lighting that firework fuse is always tempting this time of year, but Kingsport police are reminding you not to do it in city limits.

Buying, selling, and using fireworks are all illegal in Kingsport.

Officers told News 5 they are already getting complaints of people not obeying that ordinance.

"Everybody doesn't appreciate their neighbor's fireworks show as much as the next guy does, but also we are extremely dry right now, and just a loose firework landing in somebody's yard or on somebody's landscape could result in a fire which could end in a catastrophe," said Tom Patton with the Kingsport Police Department.

You can still get your fireworks fix this summer. Authorized public displays are allowed.
