What Johnson County authorities are calling an "altercation" between brothers led to an attempted first degree murder arrest.

According to the facts from Sheriff Mike Reece, Jason Stout shot his brother just before just before 2:00 Tuesday morning. Reece says Stout left the scene on Fall Branch Road before they arrived but was later found in Ashe County, North Carolina.

We also learned that the suspect's brother, Chris Stout, was flown to Wake Forrest Hospital with a single gunshot wound to the chest.

Jason Stout is in the Ashe County jail pending extradition.
