BRISTOL, Tenn. & Va. -

Monday marked the beginning of October along with National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and Bristol is going pink.

The iconic Bristol sign is lighting up the sky with a twist.

More than 1,000 light bulbs have been replaced with pink bulbs to spread awareness for breast cancer. The bulbs were sold for $20 in honor of and in memory of those fighting breast cancer.

The changing of the sign is the first event of the month long Real Women Pick Pink event. There will also be a concert in downtown Bristol.

All proceeds from the event will go to local cancer education and patient care.
