Bristol Mayors seek to honor residents
Nominations are currently being accepted for the sixth annual Bristol Mayor's Award of Distinction.
In a press release, Bristol, Virginia & Bristol, Tennessee announced the annual program offers recognition for individuals or organizations that contribute to making the Twin City a better place. Such contributions can come through business, education, health, arts and entertainment, or by receiving regional, national or international recognition that promotes the Twin City.
All nominations will be reviewed by a citizen panel comprised of members from business, education, civic and non-profit groups, and members of the media. The award panel will choose the recipients of this prestigious award for conferral by the Mayors at a reception May 5 at the Paramount Center for the Arts.
To be eligible, individuals must have been born here, lived or worked here or demonstrated strong ties to either or both cities. Organizations must be able to demonstrate exceptional and highly beneficial service to the community.
Each nomination should include a description of each nominee's projects, activities or service, a statement about why the contribution should be considered outstanding, and any relevant supplemental materials.
Nomination forms are available at both city halls, the Bristol Public Library, Bristol Chamber of Commerce and on websites for both cities. The deadline for submissions is April 15 at 5:00 pm, and all nominations must be postmarked by that date.
