Billion dollar project benefits local contractors
A multi-billion dollar project in Oak Ridge, Tenn. could benefit contractors in the region.
Construction will soon get underway for a $6.4 billion dollar uranium processing facility at the Y-12 National Security Complex.
Officials with the facility say, the new plant will not only be safer for employees but it will help clean up some environmental issues.
Facility leaders met Wednesday with local contractors to encourage them to submit bids for the project.
Parts of the Y-12 facility are more than 50-years old. It will take about seven years to construct the new plant.
