4 Nobel laureates among 9 lecturers at Oak Ridge
Four Nobel laureates are among nine participants in a new lecture series at Oak Ridge National Laboratory.
Albert Fert, recipient of the 2007 Nobel Prize in physics, opens the Eugene P. Wigner Distinguished Lecture Series in Science, Technology and Policy on Nov. 4. His lecture will focus on recent advances in materials research.
According to a news release from the lab, Fert won the Nobel Prize for the discovery of giant magnetoresistance, a phenomenon that launched the field of spintronics and revolutionized the electronics industry.
Fert's lecture takes place at 10 a.m. in the Iran Thomas Auditorium. It also will be streamed live at the University of Tennessee's Toyota Auditorium and on the laboratory's website.
Questions for the lecturer may be submitted through ORNL social media sites.
