Students Observe 9/11 Anniversary

Students in Bristol paid tribute to emergency workers today in honor of this weekend's anniversary of September 11th.

Saint Anne's School visited the Bristol, Virginia Fire Department this morning.

The students sang God Bless America and brought cards and letters to the firefighters.

"We brought cards and lunch for them because we're saying thank you for helping us," said second grader Mary Madison Brewer.

Students also visited the Bristol Police Department and the Virginia State Police.

There are several events happening throughout the region tomorrow to remember the 9/11 tragedy.

Smyth County is hosting its 9th Patriot Day program. Activities begin at 8:00 tomorrow morning and continue until 2:00 p.m. The featured speaker will be Lt. Colonel Antonio Delarosa. He serves with the 7244th installation Medical Support unit in Kingsport.

Virginia Highlands Community College will host a candlelight vigil tomorrow evening at 7:00 on the campus.

Lebanon Middle School is hosting a candlelight vigil at 6:00 p.m. tomorrow evening.
