A computer security blog written by former Washington Post reporter Brian Krebs says computer hackers took a great deal of money from UVA-Wise.

The blog Krebs On Security says the figure was close to $1,000,000.

The blog says the thieves got access to the college's account by hacking into an employee's computer.

UVA-Wise Director of Media Relations Kathy Still says the incident happened last Wednesday.

"We had a hacking incident a week ago. We caught it early on. We aggressively pursued it. No money was lost," said Still.

The blog.says the attack on UVA-Wise is the latest in a string of online bank heists.

News Five has confirmed that the Catholic Diocese of Des Moines, Iowa lost $600,000 to cyber thieves last week in a computer attack.
