Several area non-profits got a funding boost Thursday.
First Tennessee Foundation wrapped up its 150 Days of Giving contest Thursday with a grant presentation at the Millenium Center in Johnson City. To celebrate its 150th anniversary, the bank gave a $5,000 grant to a nonprofit each day for 150 days for a total of $750,000.
13 of those grants were awarded to local non-profits like the Barter Theatre, Second Harvest Food Bank, and Believe In Bristol.
We talked to Christina Blevins, the executive director of Believe In Bristol, about what the money will mean to the organization. "We've come along way over the past 10 to 20 years, but we still have a lot further to go," she told us. "There's a lot more we want to do and $5,000 is very important to us to be able to continue with that."
Believe In Bristol tells us the money will be used to further its mission of promoting and developing the local economy and heritage.
