Man sentenced to hold idiot sign
Cleveland, OH (WJW) -

Justice doesn't take a holiday.
And to prove that point, Cleveland Municipal Judge Pinkey Carr ordered a 58-year-old man to begin serving part of his sentence on Labor Day.
Richard Dameron was mandated by Carr to stand outside the Cleveland Police Second District headquarters wearing a sign admitting that he acted like an idiot.
"Actually, I didn't want to do it," Dameron said. "But the judge said to do it, so I am going to be the man and stand up."
Dameron said he was sorry for his actions. "I was drunk. I was drinking," he said.
In February, Dameron called 911 and threatened a retired police officer. He also threatened other officers.
As part of his sentence for making false alarms and menacing, Dameron was also ordered to serve jail time.
He also has to wear the sign for three hours each day this week.
Carr's bailiff, David Morrow, was also at the headquarters Monday to make sure the judge's orders were carried out.
Dameron was ordered to wear the sign in May, but he didn't. He said he left the sign at his brother's house and failed to appear at the district headquarters.
The judge was not pleased. She sent Dameron back to jail, and when he got out, he was once again ordered to wear the sign.
Dameron said he can't wait for the sentence to be completed, and said he will do whatever he has to so that he doesn't end up back in front of Carr.
"I am not trying to get in trouble no more," Dameron said.
