Spa offers weight-loss program for dogs
A year after 'working out,' 18-pound Chihuahua sheds half her weight
A spa for dogs is helping paunchy pooches shed some weight in Washington state.
Ndnd, a 6-year-old Chihuahua who weighed 18 pounds, suffered from a chronic cough, lack of energy and joint problems when she first joined Wag Wellness in Bothell, Seattle TV station KCPQ reported.
A year after "working out" and a change in diet, Ndnd is now down to 9 pounds, has increased her muscle definition and no longer has her chronic cough, according to the Everett Herald.
She does triple laps around the pool during weekly "swimming lessons," paddling almost the entire 30 minutes.
Besides swimming, Wag Wellness also offers water therapy, massage and accupressure to its canine clients.
A 30-minute massage starts at $25, while a pre-swim massage followed by swimming lessons will run you $40, according to the spa's website.
