If you were especially looking forward to seeing more of Chevy Chase on "Community" when the show (finally) returns for its fourth season, we've got some bad news.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, Chase and the producers of the cult favorite NBC comedy have mutually decided that Chase is off the show, effective immediately.
The 69-year-old actor portrayed Pierce Hawthorne on the series, and THR notes that his departure isn't expected to disturb production, with most of the season in the can.
The site adds that it's not yet clear whether Chase's exit will be written in somewhere, but he is expected to appear in the season finale.
But we have to make it to the season premiere first -- after we'd added the "Community" premiere to our calendar for Oct. 19, NBC announced just days prior that the season 4 opener had been bumped.
"Community" will now premiere at 8 p.m. on Feb. 7.
