Kia used the 2012 Los Angeles Auto Show to introduce its all-new 2014 Forte sedan.
The new car takes the previous model (which was a handsome sedan in its own right) and gives it a complete makeover with fresh styling influenced by the larger Optima sedan.
Kia says the new car is longer, wider and lower than the previous generation, and it will offer more room and more performance.
There will be two trim levels: LX and EX.
The LX will be powered by a 1.8-liter engine that cranks out 148 horsepower and is available with either a manual or automatic transmission. The EX gets a 2-liter, 173-horsepower engine coupled to an automatic transmission.
Inside, the Forte is also moving upscale. Standard features include Bluetooth phone integration, power windows, power mirrors and power door locks. Optional features on the car features include leather seats, a power sunroof and dual-zone climate control.
The new Forte is expected to go on sale in the first quarter of 2013.
