Geriatrics Unit In Marion, Virignia Closing
The Geriatrics unit at the Southwestern Virginia Mental Health Institute in Marion, Virginia could soon be on its way out because of a lack of funding.The unit was one of many state run agencies that lost funding because of the recent budget crunch in the Commonwealth.It currently treats over 20-patients from Southwest Virginia.The next closest state run facility is in Salem, Virginia.Local representatives are concerned about the travel time for families in our area who wish to stay in touch with their loved ones treatment.The unit has to be closed by June 30, 2011.
