News 5 WCYB chief meteorologist Dave Dierks and a Food City chef will be at a News 5 viewer's home to grill live every Friday at 5, 5:30, and 6 from now until the Battle at Bristol on Sept. 10.
Viewers must email why their backyard is the place to be along with a photo to firstname.lastname@example.org for a chance to be selected each week. Entries may also be mailed to News 5 WCYB, 101 Lee Street, Bristol, VA 24201. The lucky backyard will receive a meal for 10 people prepared by a Food City chef and 4 tickets to the Kenny Chesney concert on Sept. 9.
Backyard Battle Rules
Backyard Battle is open to viewers 21 years and older who legally reside in the United States. Employees of Bonten Media Group, its affiliates, advertising agencies, participating sponsors and/or promotional partners, other Tri-Cities area television stations and members of their immediate families and any other person residing within the same household are ineligible to participate or to win.
No purchase necessary. Viewers are eligible to win a station contest only once every 30 days and a prize valued at 600 dollars or more only once every six months. Limit one winner per household in any contest. Winners must provide social security number, valid photo ID, and meet all eligibility requirements and are responsible for all taxes on prizes won if applicable. They must sign a release. Concert tickets will be delivered the day of the Backyard Battle meal for up to 10 people prepared by a Food City Chef on Food City Grill. and pick up their prize in person at the station during normal business hours or forfeit the prize.
Prizes are not redeemable for cash and are non-transferable. Station reserves the right to substitute prize of greater or equal value. Station management shall be the contest judges and all decisions are final. WCYB reserves the right to stop contests or modify contest rules and dates at any time for any reason. Modifications will be announced on air, when practical. WCYB is not responsible for lost or misdirected mail or e-mail transmission failures. Backyards selected must be located in the Tri-Cities television market. The winners will be randomly selected by WCYB from eligible entries received. Those selected and all guests in attendance must agree to have their photo and/or likeness shown on television, the station website and station social media platforms. WCYB is not responsible for any non-negligent injuries or damage in association with the Backyard Battle appearance. For the segments airing on Friday, August 19, 2016 and Friday, September 9, 2016, the winning entrant and their guests will be invited to attend a special “on-location” broadcast at Bristol Motor Speedway.
