Tinnitus is a common ear ailment that affects about 1 in 5 people. This refers to having a noise or ringing in your ears.
According to the Mayo Clinic, tinnitus is usually a symptom of another underlying issue. Some conditions that can cause tinnitus include hearing loss, an injury to your ear or a disorder in your circulatory system, the Mayo Clinic states.
Tinnitus typically isn’t a serious condition. It can be annoying to those who suffer from it, but it can be improved with treatments and by treating the underlying condition.
