I hate to say this, but spring break is coming to an end. Here we go back to winter weather again. The fish will still be biting. We will just have summon up the willpower to go after them. It's back to the boats for the next few days for the tailwater trout fishermen. TVA is dealing with all this rain by generating almost 24-7 at the South Holston and Watauga dams resulting in high water flows downstream. The Blue Wing Olive hatches are still happening. Otherwise fish those Pheasant Tail Nymphs Scuds and other nymphs in the deeper runs. Upstream, it the little bitty stuff. Black flies, Zebra Midges, Copper Johns and Brassies. The cold water has mountain stream trout fishing on hold until the real spring gets here. Winter bass fishing continues. A lot people are enjoying the warmer weather, but it's back to winter weather next week. Water temperatures have stabilized in the 40 degree range. Float and fly or tight lining small jigs seem to be the best fish catchers. The duck feather jig may be the better choice right now over the Berkley Gulp Tiny Minnow. You can also catch them on jigging spoons. Not much action right now with Silver Buddies. With the colder weather coming back, it looks like I will be going back to my catalogue and boat show fishing.
