The pain at the gas pump isn't getting much better. According to AAA we're paying an average $3.92 a gallon across the nation.
That's about a quarter more than we paid last year.
We asked Tennessee's first district Congressman Phil Roe about what Congress is saying about rising cost of fuel. He tells us it's a daily conversation.
Roe says he's pushing for congress to tap into our nation's own natural resources. "If you look at our energy resources -- coal, natural gas, and oil -- we have the largest known resources in the world in the United States," he said. "There is no reason on this planet that we should not be energy independent in ten years or less. There's no doubt about it, our own policies, government policies are preventing that and people are suffering."
Roe also told us while energy solutions are still a work in progress, our national debt is being tackled head-on by House Republicans.
Roe says the "Path to Prosperity" budget document passed the House last week.
