Johnny began his broadcast career in radio and made the switch to WCYB-TV in 1968. He's worked as a sports anchor, news reporter and news anchor, and also reports weather weekdays at noon. Johnny attended East Tennessee State University. News 5 This Morning with Johnny Wood is one of the highest rated morning newscasts in America. Johnny is an avid fisherman and, though he doesn’t fish every day, he spends a lot of time on our area lakes and streams. One of the most popular features in the morning newscast is Johnny’s weekly fishing report, which he prepares every Thursday.
