Hunger First is a Kingsport organization whose door is open to anyone who is less fortunate. no matter what their situation.
Hunger first helps those like Fred Nuckels who is a senior citizen on a fixed income.
"Time I pay my rent, my light bill, and my water bill there's not usually much left over," said Nuckels.
So little left over that he sometimes doesn't have any money for food.
"I get meals here twice a week and sometimes I wouldn't be able to eat otherwise."
On the other hand David Ealy is homeless and comes by Hunger First this time of year just to get warm.
"I know I have heat and can get something to eat," said Ealy.
While the organization helps residents in all types of situations their focus is on one group in particular, those who have been turned away by shelters and other non-profits in the region.
"We take care of people others don't want to help because of either their mental health, drug addictions, drinking, just their different afflictions," said Executive Director Cindy Risk.
