Hokies Ready For Thursday Showdown

Virginia Tech coach Frank Beamer says with much football yet to be played, the 14th-ranked Hokies need to get back to taking care of their business.

The Hokies were ushered out of the national championship race with a loss to No. 11 Georgia Tech two Saturdays ago and step back into the spotlight Thursday night. That's when North Carolina comes to Lane Stadium - the first of back-to-back Thursday games for Tech.

The Tar Heels are 4-3 overall but 0-3 in the Atlantic Coast Conference's Coastal Division. Beamer says coach Butch Davis' team has shown steady improvement and that a weekend off to watch college football just highlighted that there are upsets every weekend.

The Hokies (5-2, 3-1) are 5-0 against the Tar Heels since joining the ACC in 2004.
