A local 911 Board says it needs $304,000 to cover all of the dispatching needs in Carter County and the city of Elizabethton.
And, they want the rescue squad to pay $137,000 of the needed funds.
The city has agreed to increase its funding by $50,000 to cover its portion of the cost for Elizabethton police and fire department dispatch.
The county says they'll also increase their funding by more than $97,000 to cover the Sheriff's Department and seven volunteer fire departments but they will not cover the rescue squad costs.
The 911 Director says they're losing money on landlines since more people are switching to cell phones.
Carter County lost $35,000 last year in landline revenue and about $25,000 this year.
